Toyota is preparing to introduce the first major facelift of the Innova Hycross in India since its 2022 launch. The updated MPV is expected to feature a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, a digital driver’s display, revised exterior styling and a possible flex-fuel strong-hybrid powertrain.
Nagaon, November 5: Toyota is gearing up to launch the facelifted Innova Hycross in India on November 25, 2026, bringing the first major update to its popular premium MPV since its introduction in the Indian market in 2022.
The upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross facelift is expected to receive several changes in design, cabin technology and powertrain technology. Among the biggest expected upgrades are a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a possible flex-fuel strong-hybrid engine capable of running on higher ethanol-blended petrol.
The upcoming model is expected to draw attention from Indian car buyers, particularly families looking for a spacious seven-seater vehicle with modern technology and better fuel efficiency.
New Toyota Innova Hycross: What Will Change?
The facelifted Toyota Innova Hycross is expected to receive noticeable styling changes, particularly at the front.
Test vehicles spotted on Indian roads suggest that Toyota could introduce a redesigned front grille, sleeker headlamps and revised bumpers. The updated MPV may also feature redesigned alloy wheels and refreshed LED tail-lamps.
Although the overall body shape and proportions are expected to remain largely unchanged, these updates could give the vehicle a more modern appearance.
The facelift will primarily focus on improving the MPV’s design and features rather than introducing an entirely new generation.
12.3-Inch Touchscreen Could Be a Major Upgrade
One of the most significant expected changes inside the cabin is the larger infotainment display.
The current India-spec Toyota Innova Hycross comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The facelifted version is expected to replace it with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen.
The updated model could also receive a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display in selected hybrid variants, replacing the existing analogue instrument dials and multi-information display.
Other expected cabin upgrades include:
- Updated infotainment software
- New seat upholstery
- Revised interior colour options
- Improved digital displays
- Additional connected-car features
These upgrades are expected to draw inspiration from the recently updated Indonesia-spec Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix, which is sold in India as the Innova Hycross.
However, the final India-spec feature list will be known only when Toyota officially unveils the vehicle.
Flex-Fuel Hybrid Engine: The Biggest Talking Point
Perhaps the most interesting development surrounding the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross facelift is the possibility of a flex-fuel strong-hybrid powertrain.
The updated MPV is expected to receive technical modifications to its existing 2.0-litre strong-hybrid engine, potentially allowing it to run on higher ethanol-blended petrol, including E30 or higher blends.
E30 fuel contains 30 per cent ethanol blended with 70 per cent petrol.
If Toyota introduces this technology in the Indian-spec model, the Innova Hycross could become India’s first mass-market flex-fuel strong-hybrid car.
Toyota had already showcased an ethanol-compatible Innova Hycross hybrid prototype in 2024, indicating the company’s interest in combining strong-hybrid technology with higher ethanol-blended fuels.
The development could also support India’s efforts to increase the use of alternative fuels and reduce dependence on conventional petrol.
However, Toyota has not yet officially confirmed the ethanol compatibility of the upcoming facelift. The maximum ethanol blend supported by the production model also remains unknown.
Will the Existing Petrol and Hybrid Engines Continue?
The current Toyota Innova Hycross is available with two powertrain options.
The first is a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 173 hp, paired with a CVT automatic transmission.
The second is a 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain producing a combined output of 184 hp, paired with an e-CVT transmission.
The facelift is expected to retain these basic powertrain configurations, although the hybrid version could receive technical modifications to support higher ethanol blends.
The current hybrid model has a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.16 km per litre, while the petrol version has a claimed mileage of 16.13 km per litre.
Whether Toyota will introduce any changes to the fuel-efficiency figures with the updated model remains to be seen.
Expected Price of the New Toyota Innova Hycross
Toyota has not announced the official price of the facelifted Innova Hycross.
Based on preliminary industry estimates, the updated MPV could be priced between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and powertrain.
The current model is available in multiple petrol and hybrid variants, with different seating configurations.
The final price, variant details and booking information are expected to be announced around the launch.
Why the New Innova Hycross Matters for Indian Buyers
The Toyota Innova has remained one of India’s most recognised MPV nameplates for years, with strong demand among private buyers, large families and commercial vehicle operators.
The Innova Hycross introduced a monocoque platform, a front-wheel-drive layout and strong-hybrid technology, marking a significant departure from the traditional ladder-frame Innova.
The upcoming facelift is expected to strengthen its position in the premium MPV segment through improved technology and updated styling.
If the flex-fuel hybrid technology becomes part of the production model, it could also represent an important development in India’s alternative-fuel passenger vehicle market.
With the November 25 launch approaching, buyers will be watching closely for Toyota’s official announcement on the new features, powertrain upgrades and pricing.
The biggest question remains whether Toyota will introduce India’s first mass-market flex-fuel strong-hybrid MPV with the new Innova Hycross facelift.
